Announcements for the First Day of School

Hello Wilkesboro families!

We are excited to welcome you back to a brand new school year. We hope that you've enjoyed your summer and are ready to begin what promises to be a great adventure in all of our lives.

School officially starts tomorrow here. Tomorrow morning, you will find posted on our school webpage and our ClassDojo School Story a link to our first #WE Rise page of the year. This page will have our daily news, a read aloud from Mrs. St. John, our virtual meet the teacher page, some parent documents, and a direct link to your teacher's page. Your teacher's page has activities and assignments for the first few days of school that don't require login credentials. Teachers have also prepared paper packets with the traditional back to school papers and some written assignments for the first week. Teachers must check in with all families tomorrow, so please plan to respond to your teacher's messages and phone calls. (Please click on the title of this article to continue reading.)

We realize you may not be able to get everything on the list, but please note that we will not be able to share supplies due to current health restrictions. It is very important for each student to have a pencil box/pouch to house their supplies. All supplies should be labeled with your child's name. If you need help getting supplies, please contact our school counselor Sara Carlton at 336-651-4353 or by email to carltons@wilkes.k12.nc.us. We look forward to seeing you back at school soon!

2020-2021 School Year Information

Hello families!

We wanted to share some additional information about WCS' plans for the 2020-2021 school year. WCS has updated its 2020-2021 webpage with more information about Plan B (in school with reduced capacity of 50%), including a calendar of school days. You can find that information on our district webpage by following the link provided below.

In the Central District, generally students whose last names begin with A-J will come on A days while students whose last names begin with K-Z will come on B days. There are some exceptions, as we've worked to align with Wilkes Central High School, Central Wilkes Middle School, and other schools to make sure all siblings attend school on the same day. We are committed to making sure that all children in a family (regardless of last name and school) will attend school on the same day. Also if you need to request an adjustment due to child care needs, please let us know. We plan to inform every family of their assignment after August 1.
