Hello families!

We wanted to share some additional information about WCS' plans for the 2020-2021 school year. WCS has updated its 2020-2021 webpage with more information about Plan B (in school with reduced capacity of 50%), including a calendar of school days. You can find that information on our district webpage by following the link provided below.

In the Central District, generally students whose last names begin with A-J will come on A days while students whose last names begin with K-Z will come on B days. There are some exceptions, as we've worked to align with Wilkes Central High School, Central Wilkes Middle School, and other schools to make sure all siblings attend school on the same day. We are committed to making sure that all children in a family (regardless of last name and school) will attend school on the same day. Also if you need to request an adjustment due to child care needs, please let us know. We plan to inform every family of their assignment after August 1.

Hello Wilkesboro families! We are preparing for the start of school under Plan C where all students will learn remotely from home. If you have a child who attended WES for 2019-2020 or who will attend for the 2020-2021 school year, please complete this survey as soon as possible. Wilkesboro Elementary is in the process of registering kindergarten students for next year. Please make sure to register online as soon as possible. Hello Wilkesboro families!

We are excited to welcome you back to a brand new school year. We hope that you've enjoyed your summer and are ready to begin what promises to be a great adventure in all of our lives.

School officially starts tomorrow here. Tomorrow morning, you will find posted on our school webpage and our ClassDojo School Story a link to our first #WE Rise page of the year. This page will have our daily news, a read aloud from Mrs. St. John, our virtual meet the teacher page, some parent documents, and a direct link to your teacher's page. Your teacher's page has activities and assignments for the first few days of school that don't require login credentials. Teachers have also prepared paper packets with the traditional back to school papers and some written assignments for the first week. Beginning Tuesday, September 8th, students will return to our school campus under Plan B. Under this plan, Wilkesboro Elementary will operate at a reduced capacity. We will follow the existing A/B Day school calendar and will start with Group B students on Tuesday. All guidelines regarding social distancing and face coverings must be followed.

Wilkesboro Elementary would like to congratulate four of our classroom teachers for winning a Mini-Grant with the Wilkes Education Foundation. Keven Langston a fourth grade teacher won a grant "Movin’ on Up with Learning" and our third grade teachers, Traci McManus, Holly Stone and Alisha Minton, won a grant for "Multiplication Mastery."

Wilkesboro's PTO recently provided each staff member a meal for their family to show appreciation for all that the staff do for the students and families at Wilkesboro Elementary. Along with the meal, PTO provided a heart felt thank you note that touched each heart and made every staff member feel treasured and blessed!

On October 21 - 23, Wilkesboro Elementary recognized several students as 1st Quarter "Terrific Kids." These students were invited to be a part of morning announcements and a heartwarming description of why the student was selected as a first quarter terrific kid was read aloud.
