Message from WES Principal ~
Hello Wilkesboro families! My name is Beckie Spears, and I am excited to serve as your principal.  WES has been part of my life forever -- first as a student, then as a teacher, and finally as a parent.  It is an honor and privilege to be principal in a school with a long history of excellence and tradition.  I  spent the past 25 years teaching, learning, and collaborating as a classroom teacher, an AIG resource teacher, an instructional specialist, and an assistant principal.  I live in Wilkesboro with my husband and our two daughters.
I enjoy working with students and their families to make each year the best school year ever.  We want our school to be a positive, nurturing learning community where students and teachers are inspired to learn, supported to grow, and empowered to achieve.  We believe in a whole-child approach, and it is our goal to make each school day enjoyable and rewarding.  Learning is our passion, and when we combine joy and teamwork with focused effort, we can achieve amazing possibilities.  We appreciate the opportunity to be part of your family's life, and we thank you in advance for your support, encouragement, involvement, and patience as we work with your family.  I am here to support you, so please call me at 336-838-4261 if I can assist you or your child in any way.
Message from WES Assistant Principal ~
Hello! My name is Takiyah McCathern and it will be my honor to continue to serve the Wilkesboro community as the Assistant Principal this school year! I began my teaching career in Wilkes County Schools at WES in 2006 as the resource teacher. I got to return as the resource teacher a little over ten years later in 2017.  I count it a privilege to continue and to improve upon the tradition of excellence that this school is known for.  My education career has spanned 16 years in special education classrooms and I have a heart to see each child succeed no matter what their abilities are. Education truly is the great equalizer in society. It is my passion to see all children and families thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
Last year was my first year as an assistant principal and I learned a great amount about the job. My goal this year is to build quality relationships with students, parents, and community leaders to support and encourage a positive school environment. The goal is to make Wilkesboro a place where EVERYONE can learn.  We believe in a whole-child approach, and it is our goal to make each school day enjoyable and rewarding. I am a life long learner and I want to instill that same passion in students. Thank you for making my first year so memorable and I look forward to another successful year. I am here to serve and support every family. If you have any needs or concerns please call me at 336-838-4261.
