Order Your Child's Yearbook Now

Yearbooks are on sale. You must place your order by March 31, 20120. A yearbook order form was sent home with your child the week of January 6, 2020. You may write a check payable to Strawbridge or send in $20 cash to school. If you are interested in placing your order online, you may visit strawbridge.net. Select the bright red icon Order Pictures and Yearbook. You will be asked to enter our school code YB113552 to place the order.

Pre-K Registration

Pre-K screening is on Friday, March 13th for the 2020-2021 school year. All children who will be 4 years old by August 31st are invited to attend.

Wilkesboro Elementary Readers Recognized

Thirty-seven Wilkesboro Elementary students received a free ticket to an Appalachian State basketball game of their choice for participating in ASU's Summer Reading Program. These students have also been invited to participate in Appalachians Education Day in February.

Kindergarten Fun Times

If you know of a child that will be 5 years old before August 2020 please share this information with parents. This information session will give parents guidance on how to enroll their child in Kindergarten.

Classroom Spelling Bee Winners

Congratulations to each 3rd, 4th and 5th grader who represented their classroom in our school spelling bee. Each student did a wonderful job! WES would like to congratulate Sam Rollins, our school winner, and Lucy McBride, our school runner-up. We are confident Sam will represent Wilkesboro Elementary well at the county level.

Veteran's Day Celebration

Wilkesboro Elementary honored over 30 Veterans on November 12, 2019 in a school wide program. Veterans were invited to Wilkesboro School for a light breakfast and program in their honor. Images of Veteran's were showcased in a power point presentation in the gymnasium. Each grade level performed a song and three fifth grade students read an essay regarding Veteran's Day. Wilkesboro's goal was to show veterans how much we appreciate them and the sacrifices they have made for our country.

Science Fair

A big shout out to all students who participated in Science Fair. Wilkesboro would like to congratulate Landon (5th Grade) who won 1st place, Rohan (4th Grade) and Ram (4th Grade) who won 2nd place and Aiden (4th Grade) who won 3rd place. We appreciate all the students who took the extra time and effort to complete the science fair process.

Red Ribbon Week

Students at Wilkesboro Elementary will be involved in celebrating Red Ribbon Week the week of November 3 - 8. Red Ribbon Week is the nation's oldest and largest drug prevention awareness campaign. The student's pledge is "I pledge to stay in school and learn the things that I need to know. I pledge to make the world a better place for kids like me to grow. I pledge to keep my dreams alive and be all that I can be. I pledge to help others and to keep myself drug free."

Top 10 Summer Readers Recognized by ASU

Thirty-seven students participated in Appalachian State University's summer reading program. Appalachian recently recognized the top 10 readers at Wilkesboro Elementary for their participation in the summer program by giving each of the ten students an ASU pencil pouch. The pencil pouch held a pencil, pen, eraser, ruler and a pencil sharpener. ASU also congratulates all summer readers with a free basketball ticket.

Students Recognized for Perfect Attendance

Students were recognized the first week in October for having perfect attendance the month of September. 116 student were given a perfect attendance key chain with an emoji celebrating perfect attendance to attach to their book bag. Congratulations students!
