WE Help our Neighbors

Our hearts are aching for the losses across northwest and western NC due to the devastating impact of Hurricane Helene. While our own community experienced some damage from the storm, we fared much better than our neighbors. We are grateful.

Our students and staff have brainstormed ways that we can help. We have heard from educators and relief workers across northwest and western NC that one need that is going unmet are activities and small items for children as the seasons change.

We are collecting supplies to build activity care packs for children in impacted areas. Each care pack will be packaged in a water-resistant bag and will be filled with age-appropriate materials, activities and comfort items to support children and keep them engaged and learning. Each care pack will become a new belonging that is handcrafted for the child who receives it and is intended to show our love and provide encouragement.

Throughout October, we are collecting donations of ...

  • coloring books
  • crayons
  • drawing pads or paper
  • notebooks
  • small toys
  • white boards
  • dry-erase markers
  • activity books
  • playing or game cards
  • children's gloves
  • children's socks

Donations can be brought directly to our school office at 1248 School Street in WIlkesboro. Our office is open from 8:00- 4:00 Monday through Fridays.

You can also donate by buying items directly from our Amazon wish list (see the Amazon link below). These items will be shipped directly to our school. We welcome similar donations from other retailers.

Our students will package activity care packs, and each pack will include a handmade note of encouragement, activities for learning and creativity, a pair of gloves (or socks, hat, etc.), and a note from our school expressing our care for their community. We have been working with educators and relief workers to know who will benefit, and we plan to share these resources with neighboring counties and western communities.

Please help us support our neighbors in northwest and western North Carolina!
