Wilkesboro Elementary is located just minutes off US 421, where you'll find what the community considers to be a family school. So here at Wilkesboro School we've got about 400 students in pre-k through fifth grades. It's a very diverse student population. Kids come from all different kinds of kinds home and different kinds of places. But the thing that they they have united is that everybody's here to learn and to grow. Wilkesboro Elementary believes it takes everyone's help to make this school succeed and maintain the reputation of high academic excellence. So when you think about the words Wilkesboro Elementary, it comes together to make the word WE and so for us that has become something that's very much a visual for our school but also symbolizes how WE come together. We empower our students to try to reach their greatest potential. We also inspire our students to dream bigger dreams and we believe in their potential. The part of you know Wilkesboro Elementary the W-E,  WE, it takes all of the pieces of the puzzle to make a wonderful school. We have a great staff, the best students and the best parents, around that support us, as faculty. LIke we always say, it takes a village to raise a child and so it's not just those included in the building but in the community around us as well. The students are first greeted in the morning by a loving and caring adult and then welcomed by fellow students, making this school an easy place for children to fit in and make friends. Wilkesboro is great because you get to meet a lot of friends and make more friends. You can make friends with other people, when there are older kids you can still make friends but their little kids you still can make friends. Here at Wilkesboro, you know there is a place for everyone. We try to help every child find their individual talents and to celebrate those accomplishments of each person, as an individual, but also as a part of our community. The teachers are all on board for what's best for the whole child, not just academically, but also focusing on the social and emotional well-being of each student. My teachers do a good job with helping me understand because they give me clear instructions and they write it out and describe it and that really helps us understand what we're learning better. I like to be at the library because every time I come here, she let's me be her assistant so I can help her. Students at Wilkesboro Elementary are encouraged to dream big, because with teachers preparing them for the next step in their education those dreams will become closer than ever. You know I think public schools are one of the hidden virtues of American democracy. Here at our school everyone is welcome and everyone who comes here will receive a rich education with teachers who are invested in building relationships with children and with their families. In an effort to help children discover their skills and find their talents, so that they can grow up and have the kind of future maybe that's even better than they imagined. We really believe here at Wilkesboro that children are the future of our world and we really take our role in their lives very seriously. We hope to provide them all, with positive learning experiences, so that when they grow up they will help us build a more positive community.
