We are excited to welcome Mrs. Shanna Bumgarner as our assistant principal for the 2023-2024 school year.  Mrs. Bumgarner has a long history as an experienced elementary educator with Wilkes County Schools, and she has served as a teacher at Millers Creek Elementary School and also as a teacher with the Wilkes County Schools English as a Second Language program.  She also is a local trainer for the LETRS program that helps teachers learn best practices for teaching children to read.

 

Mrs. Bumgarner is warm, experienced, hard working, focused, committed to equity, open to learning, and ready to serve, and she looks forward to working with all members of our community.  She has shared a letter of introduction so that you can learn more about her.  Please see the attachment for more information.

 

Mrs. Bumgarner will begin her official work as our AP later this summer.  She will replace Mrs. Andrea Byers, who has transitioned to be the principal at Mount Pleasant Elementary School.  We wish Mrs. Byers the best in her new role as principal and thank her for her service to the Wilkesboro community.
